Hello! I am Liz Yankle, the Principal of Rockburn Elementary! This will be my 6th year as Principal here and I couldn’t be more proud! I have spent my entire career in Howard County Public Schools as a teacher, Reading Specialist, and an administrator. We have the most amazing staff, engaged students, and supportive families. A little bit about me: I love to spend time with my husband, Brian, my two children Nick, who attends Shepherd University and Zach, who attends JMU. We have two dogs, Charlie and Dewey! I am an avid runner (you can find me running through the Rockburn neighborhoods on a daily basis). I have run 36 marathons. I also love to spend time at the beach, relaxing and reading a book! School History:

The school was designed to house six instructional pods, four kindergarten instructional areas, and a special education regional early childhood center. The program capacity for Rockburn Elementary was approximately 650 students. Spaces to serve Recreation and Parks services were incorporated into the design to allow evening and after hours use of the school. Rockburn opened with approximately 400 students. An addition to the building was completed in 2004. Another addition was completed in 2007.
