These horses can only be found in Iceland. No other gaited horses are in Iceland. This horse is known for its speed. It can run for long periods of time and it has a smooth gait. Icelandic horses do not spook easily so are good for working near loud noises or on farms or places with lots of action. The horse is 13 to 14 hands high [a hand is 4 inches] and is very strong. A person weighing as much as 250 pounds could easily ride this horse. Icelandics can come in many colors. They can be dark gray, black, red, or golden tan. It often has patches of white.
