Each Morgan horse traces back to one stallion, Justin Morgan. This horse became known as the Justin Morgan horse. In the 1840s some breeders became specialized in keeping Morgan bloodlines pure. Gaited Morgans are usually from 14.2 to 16 hands tall. A hand is four inches. About 10-20% of all Morgans perform an intermediate gate!
