Earl Slacum and Diane Mumford Cutting the Ribbon at Rockburn

August, 1993
The school was designed to house six instructional pods, four kindergarten instructional areas, and a special education regional early childhood center. The program capacity for Rockburn Elementary was approximately 650 students. Spaces to serve Recreation and Parks services were incorporated into the design to allow evening and after hours use of the school. Rockburn opened with approximately 400 students. An addition to the building was completed in 2004. Another addition was completed in 2007.

thumb.gifThe Rockburn Web Site was originally designed by Beth and Samantha, two fifth graders during the 1996 - 1997 school year. It was maintained monthly by Ronnie and Nichole the next year and Josh and Shivani the year after that, all in the fifth grade. Since then, it has been maintained by Sam Polack.
In January of 2008, the website was revamped to fit in with newly established county guidelines regarding appearance. Below is a screen shot of the old site the day before the new look began. You may still bump into some pages that have this feel for awhile during the conversion process.
