, Instructional Seminars, and 4/5 G/T Math classes are among the major activities you will find occurring in the Gifted and Talented Program at Rockburn.
The Curriculum- based Enrichment Units are dedicated to expanding and accelerating classroom curriculum and allow for flexible grouping (based upon ability level) depending upon the topic covered during any particular 10-12 week period. Enrichment units in social studies, science, language arts and technology are some of the areas covered. These groups usually meet twice a week for 45 minutes.
Instructional Seminars are groups that have an interest in a common topic preselected by the GT department at Rockburn. Students in grades two to five have at least two per grade level. Students sign up to participate in these activities which usually meet during recess once a week.
The G/T 4/5 math class provides enrichment combined with acceleration. Students in this class cover roughly four years of math in two and are set up to take pre-algebra in the sixth grade and Algebra I/DA one in the seventh grade. Please see Mr. Polack's math class homework page or Mrs. Louzan's math class homework page for much more info about the program at Rockburn.
Feel free to stop in and say hello at any time.
