 Heidi Balter, Principal
My name is Heidi Balter and I am thrilled to serve as the principal of Rockburn Elementary School. I have been an elementary school administrator for the past eight years in Howard County. As principal at Rockburn again this year, I have the unique opportunity of working closely with all of our talented staff, students and families. We take great pride in our commitment to work together to create a learning environment that strives for excellence and always puts the needs of our kids first.
As a "Parent Involvement School of Excellence", we continue to foster family and community involvement. We have moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and, frequently, siblings working in classrooms, going on field trips or helping at parties. We love that our parking is always full.
Collaborative planning is key to our success at Rockburn. We encourage our parents to take an active role in our School Improvement Team and the curriculum subcommittees. During these meetings parents work hand and hand with staff to review and analyze our performance data and using the results, plan appropriate instructional programs for all of our students. Parents interested in serving on one or more of these committees are encouraged to contact the school at 410-313-5030.

Rockburn Elementary School is a wonderful place to work! I am thrilled to be a member of the Administrative Team with Mrs. Balter as well as a member of such a wonderful and devoted staff. I continue to enjoy my time at Rockburn and am always amazed how the students are always striving to be the best. At Rockburn, we want to ensure that our students grow academically as well as socially by taking in each new experience and learning from everything around them.I have been an educator for 22 years with 20 years in the Howard County Public School System. I've taught various grades and served as School Counselor before I was appointed Assistant Principal at Deep Run Elementary in 2000. This school year marks my fourth year at Rockburn.I learn something new each and every day from the students, staff and parents. I look forward to continuing to encourage a welcoming and safe environment where all are respected and open communication is valued. Creating
